This is a 'success story' for parliamentary inquiry into the evidence to support the UK government promotion of Reading Recovery - it wasn't of high enough quality!

It also confirms that synthetic phonics teaching is best for mainstream teaching and points to the need for synthetic phonics for intervention.

This is a very important report and, in my mind, as historic as the Rose Report.

The report is a 'must' read for anyone interested in reading instruction and the importance of paying regard to high-quality evidence.
